Neuroscience of Behaviour- Beginner

This is a 1 hours seminar and discussion on the evidence and research relating to neuroscience, epigenetics and behaviour.

It covers some of the basic concepts in neuroscience, current research findings, applications for modification techniques. This is useful for behaviour analysts who want to look at some of the distant antecedents, motivating operations and functions of the behaviour. We cover current research behind some of the important aspects of neuroscience, genetics, epigenetics and physiology.

  • Introduction to the central nervous system
  • Chemical messengers/Neuromodulation
  • DNA replication, its role in learning
  • Brain anatomy relating to function, fear, emotion
  • Stress reduction techniques, why we use love and play instead of suppression of function
  • Current research into mammal brains and behaviour

Introduction to the Neuroscience of Behaviour- Degree Or Other

This (89 minutes) online seminar assumes that you will have an understanding of nerve impulse transmission, basic DNA knowledge and some idea of functional anatomy. Here we look at some of the current evidence relating to neuroscience and behaviour.  We look at evidence relating to behaviour functions for behaviour analysts to consider during observation. This is useful when using ABA techniques to look at functions of behaviour.

  • Introduction to the central nervous system & its anatomy
  • Chemical messengers/Neuromodulation, neurotransmitters, endocrine system and cranial nerves
  • DNA replication and its implication in behaviour modification particularly learning and plasticity (mechanisms of plasticity not covered or HRE relating to protein synthesis)
  • Brain anatomy relating to function, fear, emotion & function
  • Stress reduction techniques, why we use love and play and not suppression
  • Current research into mammal brains and behaviour
